Dis-Chem Installs Ulilog's SafeAir UVGI Air Purifiers in wound clinics
Dis-Chem, has commenced with a national roll-out of the Ulilog SafeAir UVGI (Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation) Air Purifiers in their Wound Clinics.
This initiative, implemented by Dis-Chem is to control and reduce the transmission of airborne bacteria, viruses fungi, etc. Through improving indoor air quality, thus safeguarding patients and staff from the spread of airborne contamination.
Dis-Chem, Northridge Mall, Bloemfontein, (See pics below) is one of the branches that has joined the SafeAir drive by installing Ulilog's SafeAir Purifier in its Wound Clinic.
This is just one of the many Dis-Chem clinics that are to have the SafeAir Purifiers installed over the next week.
WHY PURIFY INDOOR AIR?
The average adult consumes 11 000 to 14 000 litres of air per day.
We are regularly in close proximity to people who expel droplets when they cough, sneeze, laugh and talk. Certain nuclei can travel up to 40m and remain airborne for hours. These are ways in which airborne diseases are spread.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
SafeAir has been designed to draw in air from the room which passes over concealed ultraviolet lamps for a certain time in order to reduce and kill airborne microbes - bacteria, viruses and pollutants.
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) is a sterilization method that uses UV light at a sufficiently short wavelength to break down micro-organisms. It is used in a variety of applications such as food, air and water purification.
An air ioniser (or negative ion generator) is a device that uses high voltage to ionise (electrically charge) air molecules. Negative ions, or anions, are particles with one or more extra electrons, conferring a net negative charge to the particle thus removing larger contaminants from the air.
Ulilog's SafeAir Air Purifiers use both these technologies to maximise the effectiveness of these air purifiers to assist with the spread of airborne diseases as well as to clear the air of larger particles which also gives welcome relief to allergy and asthma sufferers.
